Job Description

The PYP Class Teacher plays a vital role in nurturing inquiry-based learning, international mindedness, and the holistic development of young learners. This key position involves planning, delivering, and managing engaging, transdisciplinary learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework. The successful candidate will inspire curiosity, foster a love of learning, and support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth through innovative and student-centered teaching practices. They will also contribute to a collaborative and reflective learning community that values diversity, well-being, and global citizenship.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver lessons with clear objectives and assessments
  • Set challenging tasks to maintain interest and build on prior attainment
  • Cater to individual student needs and maintain lesson structure, pace and motivation
  • Use diverse teaching methods, including questioning, resource selection and study skill development
  • Ensure effective use of time, assessments and school policies on discipline, behaviour and homework
  • Contribute to curriculum development with clear targets and success criteria
  • Act as class tutor, supporting the progress and well-being of students
  • Register attendance, encourage participation and address individual student concerns
  • Prepare reports and action plans and communicate with staff about student needs

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant subject area or B.Ed.
  • Postgraduate Certificate of Education or a certificate of equivalence
  • Experience teaching IB Primary years programme
  • Prior experience in a premium international school is highly desirable
  • Experience in using ICT to enhance teaching and learning
  • Ability to set clear expectations and stretch goals
  • A depth of understanding in the relevant subject area
  • Ability to judge learning effectiveness
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and a growth mindset
  • Genuine care and attention for the highest standards of student welfare

Nice to have

Prior experience in a premium international school is highly desirable
