Job Description:

The International School of Como is seeking a committed and enthusiastic PYP Teacher to join the Primary School on a 1-year fixed-term contract (maternity cover) from August 2026. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework, supporting students’ academic, social and emotional development within a collaborative and student-centred environment. This role is open to teachers across the PYP age range and is not specific to a single year group.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework
  • Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
  • Support students’ academic, social and emotional development
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform planning
  • Contribute to collaborative planning and transdisciplinary units of inquiry
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and colleagues
  • Participate in school events, trips and wider community initiatives
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching within a Primary or Early Years setting
  • A strong understanding of inquiry-based learning
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A collaborative and reflective approach to teaching
  • Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)

Nice to have:

  • Experience teaching within the IB PYP
  • Experience in an international school environment
  • Strong understanding of formative assessment practices
  • Ability to contribute to wider school life and enrichment activities
  • Italian language skills (advantageous but not essential)
