We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to support our operations in the Washougal, Washington area on a long-term contract basis. This position plays a key role in managing purchasing activities, collaborating closely with suppliers, and ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in alignment with internal standards. The ideal candidate brings strong vendor management experience, analytical insight, and a detail‑oriented approach to procurement.
Job Responsibility:
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to support reliable delivery timelines and competitive pricing
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and quality standards to support optimal sourcing decisions
Review freight and logistics costs, including the need for expedited shipments, to determine the most effective purchasing solutions
Prepare and issue purchase orders using request-for-quote (RFQ) data within the ERP system
Track and evaluate supplier performance and material quality, sharing insights with leadership as part of ongoing supplier reviews
Partner with purchasing leadership to meet departmental benchmarks, including purchase order accuracy and delivery performance
Analyze purchasing activity and market conditions to uncover opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
Oversee shipping and receiving activities, including documentation, inventory tracking, and certification handling
Work closely with accounting to match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with vendors as needed
Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all company policies and regulatory requirements while working with internal stakeholders and external partners
Requirements:
Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build lasting vendor relationships
Proficiency in using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for purchase order management
Knowledge of freight and logistics cost analysis to optimize sourcing decisions
Familiarity with supplier performance metrics and quality assurance practices
Ability to analyze purchasing data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers
Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
