We are seeking a dedicated Purchasing Material Control Associate with preferably at least 1-3 years of experience purchasing, shipping, or related field. The candidate will coordinate activities involved with acquiring goods and services and shipping administration.
Job Responsibility:
Responds to purchase requests for maintenance, repair, office supplies, and any other material for inventory or projects as well as assist in project purchasing
Assists shipping personnel with all shipments leaving the facility (small parcel, LTL, and larger dedicated contract related shipments)
Handles freight quotes for shipments
Assists with freight claims
Participates in DLA/DCMA inspections
Able to negotiate freight and carrier insurance in addition to facilitating inspections, substitutions and standardizations by arranging and participating in meetings with suppliers
Creates purchase orders for hand written requisitions
Auto-creates purchase order in CAPPS and Oracle purchasing
Maintains manual or computerized procurement records
Able to resolve shipment quality/quantity discrepancies
Acknowledges all purchase orders sent to suppliers
Assists with accounting department functions as necessary
Expedites material deliveries as required
Responsible for reviewing and monitoring quality procedures in relation to the purchasing material control
Communicates, coordinates and plans with necessary personnel from the pricing and warehouse departments
Requirements:
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, shipping, or related field preferred
Basic knowledge of purchasing functions
Knowledge of materials used in the construction/repair of vessels
Basic knowledge of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
Good communication skills, including written and oral communication
