We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement and inventory planning operations for a fast-moving supply environment in Mount Vernon, New York. This role will manage supplier partnerships across domestic and international markets while helping maintain product availability through informed forecasting and timely purchasing decisions. The ideal candidate will bring strong oversight of purchasing systems, shipment coordination, and cross-functional communication to keep materials flowing efficiently and accurately.
Job Responsibility:
Direct procurement activities for suppliers in the U.S. and abroad, ensuring consistent supply and cost-effective purchasing decisions
Use forecasting and inventory planning tools to compare projected demand with actual consumption and help prevent shortages or excess stock
Create, release, and monitor purchase orders in NetSuite while aligning orders with inventory needs and open customer demand
Follow supplier production schedules closely, identify potential delays early, and work with partners to reduce disruptions caused by capacity or shipping constraints
Manage inbound import activity, including container movements, freight coordination, and customs-related processes
Partner with carriers, freight providers, and warehouse teams to support timely deliveries and smooth receipt of goods
Track shipments from origin to destination and share updated delivery timelines with internal stakeholders
Maintain reliable purchasing and inventory records in NetSuite and provide oversight to the coordinator responsible for transactional updates and supplier follow-up
Supervise international shipping activities, including transportation bookings, document preparation, and customs clearance coordination with external logistics partners
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience managing purchasing operations and supplier relationships in a distribution, manufacturing, or product-based environment
Strong knowledge of inventory planning, demand forecasting, and replenishment practices that support service levels and stock accuracy
Hands-on experience working in NetSuite or a comparable ERP system for purchase order management and data maintenance
Familiarity with international procurement, ocean freight, customs processes, and inbound logistics coordination
Ability to monitor multiple shipments, priorities, and timelines while maintaining attention to detail
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across suppliers, warehouses, carriers, and internal teams
Proven organizational skills and sound judgment when addressing delays, supply issues, and changing demand patterns
