Job Description:

Are you an experienced Purchasing Manager with a passion for procurement excellence? Our client, a leading infrastructure services provider, is seeking a dynamic individual to lead their procurement team in Sevenoaks on a fixed-term contract for 6 months. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a knack for building strong supplier relationships, we want to hear from you!

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and motivate the procurement team to achieve optimal performance
  • Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring timely procurement aligned with budget constraints
  • Streamline procurement systems to reduce downtime and enhance efficiency
  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to ensure seamless integration of procurement software
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams, including project managers and site personnel
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure competitive terms and conditions
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
  • analyse market trends to identify and evaluate potential suppliers
  • Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand accurately
  • Prepare insightful reports on purchasing activities and supplier performance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all purchasing activities

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or senior buyer in civil engineering, construction, or reinstatement sectors
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and practises
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a focus on team development
  • Proficiency in procurement systems
  • knowledge of Sicon and/or SAGE is a plus
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a successful contract management track record
  • Deep understanding of buying policies, compliance, and procurement best practises
  • Strong analytical skills to assess supplier performance and market conditions
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across various departments
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable

  • CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable
  • Proficiency in procurement systems
  • knowledge of Sicon and/or SAGE is a plus
