Job Description:

The Purchasing Consultant is responsible for new business development by cold calling, prospecting, needs assessments, presentations, and closing new deals.

Job Responsibility:

  • Specialize in generating new business in your territory through prospecting, cold calling, networking, and relationship building
  • Managing a book of business with 70% of time spent on base business penetration and growth
  • Develop a territory specific strategy to increase market share by outlining tactics, activities, and resources
  • Participation in state affiliated tradeshows and member facing events
  • Excellent relationship building and networking skills to be utilized with members and vendors
  • Manage and account for your business with a P&L statement
  • Utilize needs satisfaction selling skills to develop unique client specific resolutions for each prospect and member you encounter
  • Actively research and display knowledge of prospects you are targeting, as well as your competition
  • Develop creative strategies to get past the gatekeepers and in front of those "hard-to-see" decision makers
  • This is an outside sales position, 80% of time being spent on the road visiting member to actively sell and prospect new members
  • Home office environment and able to work accordingly
  • Must have reliable transportation and clean driving record
  • CRM utilization with SalesForce
  • Expenses processed with Concur

Requirements:

  • Must be able to provide evidence of a proven sales track record
  • 1 - 3 years of outside B2B sales experience
  • Experience specializing in new business acquisition
  • Ability to influence decision makers at all levels of an organization, from a CEO to a front office professional
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred or equivalent business experience
