We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team in Stratford, Connecticut. This Contract to permanent position requires a proactive individual who excels in vendor management, purchasing processes, and customer service. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely procurement of parts, maintaining strong relationships with vendors, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare accurate quotes based on technician requests and ensure they are sent to clients within one business day
Evaluate vendor quotes to secure optimal pricing and quality for clients
Manage the procurement process by ordering necessary parts in advance to meet scheduled job timelines
Monitor and track purchase orders, ensuring parts arrive as planned and updating technicians accordingly
Collaborate with technicians to confirm part requirements and approve vendor-recommended replacements
Review technician follow-up recommendations and coordinate with internal teams to create new work orders
Support warehouse operations by verifying inventory for jobs scheduled at least one week ahead
Maintain market awareness by researching new suppliers and assessing competitor activities to enhance client satisfaction
Respond promptly to client inquiries and provide regular updates to the client relationship manager
Address service-related issues by involving technical advisors and resolving client concerns in a detail-oriented manner
Requirements:
At least 1 year of experience in the trade service industry, with prior roles as a licensed service technician being a plus
Proven expertise in purchasing functions, vendor management, and maintaining supplier relationships
Strong ability to communicate technical issues between technicians and vendors effectively
Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service with a positive and detail oriented demeanor
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage conflicts efficiently
Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency
Proficiency in multitasking and adapting to client needs in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other purchasing-related tools and software
