Robert Half is seeking a driven Purchasing Agent on behalf of our client, a small/medium sized manufacturing business. Are you passionate about procurement, vendor relations, and driving efficiency in supply chain operations? As Purchasing Agent, you will oversee the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of manufacturing materials and electrical components. You’ll build and maintain supplier relationships, ensure timely delivery of goods, and optimize costs while upholding the company’s quality standards. Your analytical mindset and attention to detail will be key to your success.
Job Responsibility:
Source and evaluate suppliers for electrical component manufacturing needs
Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts for materials and supplies
Monitor inventory levels and initiate purchase orders to maintain production flow
Track orders, coordinate deliveries, and resolve discrepancies with vendors
Analyze market trends and vendor performance to drive cost savings
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including engineering, production, and logistics
Maintain accurate records and report on purchasing activities
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
2+ years experience in purchasing/procurement, ideally in a manufacturing or electrical component setting
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Solid understanding of supply chain processes and inventory control
Proficiency with ERP and purchasing software
Excel and data analysis a plus
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or related field preferred
Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles, preferably within the manufacturing industry
Strong knowledge of procurement functions, including quoting, sourcing, and supplier management
Familiarity with MRP systems to manage and track purchasing activities
Ability to negotiate pricing and terms effectively with suppliers
Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong analytical skills to assess procurement data and identify improvement opportunities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
Demonstrated ability to resolve procurement-related issues promptly and effectively
