Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Public Relations Director to lead communications programs for a portfolio of commercial real estate clients in New York, New York. This is a Contract position for a senior detail-oriented individual who can quickly take ownership of high-profile accounts, shape compelling media narratives, and build strong relationships with clients and press contacts. The role combines strategic advisory work with day-to-day execution, making it ideal for someone who is equally comfortable guiding communications direction and personally driving outreach.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct public relations strategy and media engagement for multiple commercial real estate accounts, ensuring each program aligns with client goals and market opportunities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders by providing thoughtful recommendations, clear communication counsel, and proactive reputation guidance
  • Create tailored story ideas, messaging angles, and press opportunities that resonate with targeted business, trade, and real estate media outlets
  • Personally lead media pitching efforts and maintain strong journalist relationships to secure meaningful coverage across relevant publications
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately eight real estate-focused clients while maintaining a high standard of service across competing priorities
  • Oversee account activity and mentor entry-level support resources while remaining actively involved in execution within a lean team environment
  • Partner with internal and client teams to develop campaign plans that strengthen visibility for developers, multifamily organizations, and construction-related businesses
  • Monitor industry trends, client developments, and media activity to identify timely communications opportunities and inform strategic decisions

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in public relations with a strong concentration in commercial real estate media relations
  • Demonstrated success leading communications strategy while also executing hands-on media outreach and storytelling initiatives
  • Background in an agency environment is strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage several client accounts at once without sacrificing strategic focus or responsiveness
  • Executive-level client management skills with the presence and judgment expected of a senior communications leader
  • Familiarity with sectors such as real estate development, multifamily housing, and construction is highly valued
  • Journalism experience is a plus, particularly for candidates with strong writing instincts and editorial awareness
  • Expertise in public relations, campaign planning, brand visibility, and media engagement
