Meta is seeking a Public Policy Manager to help lead public policy strategy and government engagement across Canada. In this role, you will represent Meta's interests with federal and provincial policymakers, regulators, and key stakeholders on issues spanning digital regulation, privacy, AI, youth safety, content governance, platform accountability, and emerging technology policy. You will develop and execute policy positions that shape the regulatory environment for Meta's family of apps and technologies, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Meta's AI and hardware initiatives, ensuring Meta's voice is heard in Canada's evolving legislative landscape.
Job Responsibility
Develop and execute public policy strategies to advance Meta's positions on Canadian federal and provincial legislative and regulatory matters affecting digital platforms
Engage directly with government officials, parliamentary staff, regulatory bodies, and industry coalitions to represent Meta's policy interests across Canada
Monitor, analyze, and assess the impact of emerging Canadian legislation and regulatory proposals on Meta's products and business operations
Draft policy submissions, briefing documents, position papers, and regulatory comments for government consultations and parliamentary proceedings
Collaborate with cross-functional partners including legal, communications, product, and trust and safety teams to align policy positions with business and product realities
Build and maintain relationships with trade associations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and other external stakeholders relevant to Meta's Canadian policy agenda
Identify and assess policy risks arising from regulatory change and develop mitigation strategies in coordination with regional and global policy leadership
Contribute to setting team-level goals and priorities for Meta's Canadian policy program, informing leadership on strategic tradeoffs and emerging opportunities
Represent Meta at public forums, industry events, and government roundtables to advance the company's policy narrative on digital regulation and technology governance
Leverage data and policy analysis to influence internal decision-making and communicate complex regulatory developments to non-specialist audiences across the organization
Requirements
8+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, regulatory affairs, or a related field with a focus on technology, digital platforms, or telecommunications policy
Experience engaging with Canadian federal or provincial government institutions, regulatory agencies, or parliamentary processes
Experience developing policy positions, drafting regulatory submissions, and communicating complex policy issues to government and non-government stakeholders
Experience working across cross-functional teams to align policy strategy with legal, product, and communications objectives
Experience analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals and translating their implications into actionable business or policy recommendations
Nice to have
Proficiency in French
Familiarity with the policy and regulatory landscape affecting large-scale digital platforms or social media in Canada
Experience representing an organization in multi-stakeholder forums, coalition settings, or government consultations at the federal and/or provincial levels
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development
Experience with Canadian digital policy issues such as privacy law, online safety regulation, competition policy, or AI governance frameworks
