Job Description

Uber invests in safety as a core part of its platform and products. As Public Policy Manager for Safety, this role helps ensure those investments translate into strong policy outcomes, effective external engagement, and clear public narratives. You will work across Product, Operations, Legal, and Communications to understand how safety features and programs operate in practice, and help shape how they are developed, launched, and understood externally. You will support regulatory strategy, advise on product and program decisions, and help position Uber as a leader in safety and trust. This role is a good fit for someone with strong policy judgment, business awareness, and experience working across teams to solve complex, cross-cutting issues.

Job Responsibility

  • Business & Product Insight: Build a working understanding of Uber's safety products, operations, and risk landscape. Use that context to advise internal teams on how policy and regulatory dynamics should inform product and program decisions
  • Cross-Functional Advisory: Partner with Product, Operations, Legal, and Communications to flag risks, identify opportunities, and shape safety-related strategies. Ensure policy considerations are embedded early in product and program development
  • Regulatory Strategy & Response: Track and interpret emerging safety-related regulation. Help develop coordinated strategies that protect Uber's ability to operate and innovate while strengthening trust with policymakers and the public
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with policymakers, advocates, researchers, and industry partners. Use these relationships to inform internal thinking and advance constructive policy outcomes
  • Narrative Development: Translate complex safety work into clear, evidence-based materials for external audiences. Support blog posts, regulatory submissions, research partnerships, and events that strengthen understanding of Uber's safety approach
  • Thought Leadership & Representation: Represent Uber in external forums. Help shape discussions on safety and trust through events, partnerships, and public engagement

Requirements
