Job Description

Mozilla’s mission is to champion the internet as a global public resource, measured through a double bottom line: advancing that mission while succeeding in the market. At Mozilla Corporation, this means building and scaling trusted, user-first products, like Firefox, that give people meaningful control over their online experience, while supporting a more open, competitive, and sustainable tech ecosystem. The global public policy team enables this by shaping laws and regulatory frameworks that support our open source technologies, strengthen user choice and privacy, and ensure fair competition to create the conditions for responsible innovation and long-term growth.Do you like working on big-picture problems? Join us to influence the future of tech policy! In this role, you will engage with government stakeholders, industry partners, and civil society, advocating for public policy positions that align with our mission and support responsible innovation in technology. You will be responsible for raising the profile of Mozilla and Firefox in the UK, ensuring consistent engagement with our stakeholders, and coordinating input from subject matter experts on the global policy team. As such, you will lead end-to-end policy campaign development and execution across key issues such as privacy, competition, and AI in the UK, while contributing to and supporting related efforts at EU level. You will also collaborate with our internal product and engineering teams to provide expert advice on public policy implications related to the rollout of new products. This role reports to the Head of Public Policy EU.

Job Responsibility

  • Engage with UK policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy frameworks that support the open web and Mozilla’s product initiatives. Focus on issues including competition, privacy, AI, and consumer protection while supporting alignment with EU regulatory developments and stakeholders
  • Build public policy campaigns from the ground up and drive their execution to raise Mozilla’s profile in the UK and shape ongoing policy discussions that impact our products and the open web, including planning, delivery, and evaluation of end-to-end advocacy strategies
  • Represent Mozilla in external forums, industry groups, and other public venues on policy issues, and ensure our views are accurately and effectively communicated, including through policy events, thought leadership, and coordinated advocacy with third-party organisations
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate internally about emerging policy issues, regulatory developments, and global trends affecting Mozilla's products and services across the UK and the EU
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and actionable policy insights and recommendations
  • Lead and manage policy-related projects end-to-end, including coordination of timelines, stakeholders, deliverables, and external partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience with at least 5 years of experience working on technology policy
  • Demonstrated experience working in the UK policy environment (e.g. UK Government, Westminister, CMA, ICO etc), with familiarity and exposure to EU policy processes and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail, manage external policy agencies and drive projects to successful completion, including structured delivery of policy campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives
  • Excellent cross-functional skills with experience working with international teams and a variety of collaborators
  • Strong policy writing, research, and analysis skills attuned to communicating key information to decision makers
  • Experience in competition and privacy policy, and/or exposure to civil society, or non-profit technology environments, is strongly preferred
