As a Public Health Officer, you will be the guardian of health standards on board, ensuring compliance with all applicable public health regulations and company policies. You will play a crucial role in training, mentoring, and supporting the crew to maintain the highest standards of health and safety.
Job Responsibility:
Guardian of health standards on board
Ensure compliance with all applicable public health regulations and company policies
Training, mentoring, and supporting the crew
Primary point of contact for all public health matters
Oversee shipboard compliance with public health standards in disease surveillance, food safety, water safety, and pest management
Participate in additional projects as assigned by the shoreside Public Health Department
Assist the Hotel Director in fostering a work environment that promotes a successful public health culture
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, environmental health, biological sciences, or related fields preferred
Proficiency in English (B2 minimum)
Two years of shipboard experience or three years of shoreside experience in public health programs
Knowledge of infection control practices and Vessel Sanitation Standards is preferred
CDC Vessel Sanitation Training, Infection Control Certification, SHIPSAN certification, and other relevant qualifications are advantageous
Cruise Industry Experience strongly preferred
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and generally computer literacy
Willingness to work on a temporary contract of up to 6 months on board followed by around 2 months of unpaid leave
