Job Description

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is accepting applications for a contract Public Health Nurse Consultant 2 position in the Department of Health, Division of Family Health and Wellness. This position will provide clinical case management with Newborn Screening Follow-up.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide case management and follow-up for newborns and children with abnormal or questionable newborn screening, hearing screening, and critical congenital heart disease results
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, parents, and tertiary care centers by responding to inquiries, providing case information, and coordinating follow-up activities
  • Follow established pediatric case management protocols and seek guidance as needed to ensure quality patient care and program compliance
  • Collaborate with nurse educators and healthcare facilities to identify educational needs and support training initiatives related to newborn screening and pediatric case management
  • Assist in the development, review, and revision of program policies, procedures, and workflow improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of four years of professional registered nursing experience
  • substitution of experience for education: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a diploma in registered nursing from an accredited school of nursing or a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and three years of professional registered nursing experience
  • OR currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and two years of professional registered nursing experience
