Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Public Entity/Defense Litigation Paralegal to support a busy practice serving public-sector clients in Denver. This Contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a detail-focused candidate who can manage litigation matters efficiently while working closely with attorneys on defense and civil cases. The role offers the chance to contribute across all stages of case development in a collaborative, high-performing legal environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee litigation support activities from initial file opening through trial preparation, helping attorneys keep matters organized and moving forward
  • Prepare, revise, and proof legal filings, correspondence, and other case documents while confirming accuracy of citations and formatting
  • Coordinate discovery tasks such as collecting records, organizing productions, drafting responses, and tracking subpoenas and interrogatories
  • Review and summarize depositions, medical documentation, and other case materials to support legal strategy and case evaluation
  • Maintain orderly case files, assemble exhibits, and develop trial notebooks and supporting materials for hearings and trial proceedings
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other parties involved in active litigation matters
  • Monitor court calendars, filing deadlines, and procedural requirements to help ensure compliance with applicable state and federal rules
  • Provide litigation support on matters involving municipal defense, employment-related disputes, civil rights claims, and general liability cases

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years of paralegal experience supporting defense litigation, civil litigation, or closely related legal matters
  • Background working with municipalities, government entities, or other public-sector clients is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with employment law, federal court litigation, civil rights matters, or administrative proceedings is highly valued
  • Solid knowledge of litigation processes, including discovery, document handling, deadline management, and trial preparation
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and remain effective in a fast-paced legal setting
  • Proficiency with case management platforms, legal document systems, Microsoft Office tools, and standard litigation technology
