Job Description

The Psychology Specialist is responsible for the cognitive therapy services provided at Rogers Behavioral Health (RBH) according to the established standards of care. Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Director, works directly with behavior specialists to train, coach and develop staff providing cognitive behavioral services. With direct service involvement, this position has a comprehensive understanding of how the programs operate. This employee works in concert with clinical and administrative supervisors on performance improvement activities.

Job Responsibility

  • Under the supervision of Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Director: provide cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services, except medication administration, to program patients according to clinical standards of care
  • Participate in weekly supervision sessions with the clinical program director/clinical supervisor
  • Provide training to other staff members less familiar with the cognitive behavior therapy model
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute to treatment plan development
  • Communicate with aftercare providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Assist in the development and refinement of manuals and protocols for patient care
  • Develop internal, patient specific worksheets for treatment
  • Provide oversight of new staff completing their onboarding and CBT training
  • Shadow new staff as necessary
  • Complete required medical record documentation and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Document service provided according to applicable regulations and payor expectations
  • Ensure documentation of treatment plans, hierarchies and psychosocial information and completeness of the medical record
  • Conduct periodic audits of staff documentation to ensure proper and complete for patients receiving treatment
  • Ensure compliance of clinical care components
  • Involve self in the learning and the application of standards relevant to the clinical staff
  • Participate in in-services/seminars and other meetings to increase involvement and awareness of regulations
  • Involve self in the education of other disciplines regarding services provided within RB
  • Participate in RBH committees, meetings, and team projects

  • Communicate with all individuals in a positive and professional manner
  • Attempt to resolve individual issues with peers in a positive, calm manner, with a focus on solution

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a behavioral science required
  • PhD or PsyD preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience
  • working with CBT a plus
  • Administrative or supervisory experience in a psychiatric setting preferred

  • Provide court accompaniment and guidance with legal, financial, and medical systems
  • Work in conjunction with other Victim Services employees to provide consultation and support to victims where needed
  • Utilizing independent judgment, conduct individual needs assessments on victims/survivors of alcohol and drugged driving crashes for emotional support, information, and referrals, implementing beneficial interventions based upon those assessments

  • Based upon assessment, create and implement a tailored case management action plan for victims, which may include grief support assistance, crisis intervention, referrals for long-term counseling issues and other basic needs, as well as support group facilitation

  • Provide advocacy by assisting in the protection and exertion of victims/survivor's rights and educating others about the criminal and civil justice systems
