An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Community Mental Health to join a well-established multidisciplinary Community Mental Health Team in Northern Ireland. This is a newly developed Consultant post created following service reorganisation, offering the opportunity to provide clinical leadership and expert psychiatric care within a progressive community mental health service. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative CMHT model supporting adults with complex mental health needs while contributing to service development, governance, education, and multidisciplinary working.
Job Responsibility:
Provide consultant-led psychiatric assessment and treatment
Deliver clinical leadership within the CMHT
Manage complex community mental health cases
Support multidisciplinary treatment planning
Participate in distributed caseload responsibility models
Work collaboratively with Crisis teams, Home treatment services, Inpatient mental health services, Specialist psychiatry teams, Psychological therapy services
Participate in MDT meetings and clinical reviews
Supervise junior medical staff and trainees
Contribute to clinical governance and audit
Participate in senior on-call rotas
Support teaching, supervision, and service development
Requirements:
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
Approved Clinician status
Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act
Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 12 months of CCT
Minimum 1 year NHS experience
Excellent clinical skills in Adult Psychiatry
Experience managing complex mental health presentations
Strong multidisciplinary working ability
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Nice to have:
Higher degree (MD, MSc, PhD or equivalent)
Leadership or management experience
Research and publication experience
Teaching and supervision experience
Service development and quality improvement involvement
