Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Community Mental Health to join a well-established multidisciplinary Community Mental Health Team in Northern Ireland. This is a newly developed Consultant post created following service reorganisation, offering the opportunity to provide clinical leadership and expert psychiatric care within a progressive community mental health service. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative CMHT model supporting adults with complex mental health needs while contributing to service development, governance, education, and multidisciplinary working.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide consultant-led psychiatric assessment and treatment
  • Deliver clinical leadership within the CMHT
  • Manage complex community mental health cases
  • Support multidisciplinary treatment planning
  • Participate in distributed caseload responsibility models
  • Work collaboratively with crisis teams, home treatment services, inpatient mental health services, specialist psychiatry teams, psychological therapy services
  • Participate in MDT meetings and clinical reviews
  • Supervise junior medical staff and trainees
  • Contribute to clinical governance and audit
  • Participate in senior on-call rotas
  • Support teaching, supervision, and service development

Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
  • Approved Clinician status
  • Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act
  • Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 12 months of CCT
  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience
  • Excellent clinical skills in Adult Psychiatry
  • Experience managing complex mental health presentations
  • Strong multidisciplinary working ability
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
