Requirements

Hands-on prototype build experience and/or direct experience with transmission systems
Proven background assembling, stripping or validating complex mechanical assemblies
Strong capability to read, interpret and work accurately to engineering drawings and tolerances
Ability to verify quality using precise measurement techniques (manual metrology or CMM advantageous)
Experience modifying or fabricating prototype hardware (e.g., machining, drilling, grinding, welding)

Job Responsibility

Strip, build, assemble and inspect prototype transmissions in line with build manuals and engineering instruction
Investigate and fault-find build issues, manufacturing defects and mechanical failures
Strip and assess unfamiliar or one-off transmission assemblies without existing build documentation
Apply a deep understanding of transmission architecture, component function and driveline systems
Install instrumentation, sensors and bespoke modifications on test units as directed by engineering
Identify, raise and report build concerns
support engineering with structured problem-solving (including 8D)
Follow all part-picking, kitting, storage and inventory processes
Maintain a safe, well-organised, prototype-standard workshop environment

5+ yrs shipping real mechanical hardware (robots = huge plus)
CAD all day, every day (Onshape preferred)
Run 3-axis CNC, lathe, FDM/SLA printers, laser cutter without thinking
Measure with calipers, micrometers, force gauges in your sleep
Enough understanding of electronics to test on a system level
Zero drama, just build it and make it work

Job Responsibility

Same-day / next-day prototypes for the hand: mill, turn, print, cut, assemble, solder
Quick-turn CAD (Onshape/SolidWorks) part in hand bolted on robot
Build functional assemblies: tendons, sensors, skins, gears, whatever it takes
Run abuse tests, cycle tests, drop tests on the bench
Iterate mechs with the design team until it survives real use
Hack test rigs so we can measure force, speed, precision fast
Keep your corner of the shop stocked and machines running
Document just enough so the next rev is faster
