Job Description

Chainway Labs is seeking a Protocol Engineer to join our team at Citrea, Bitcoin’s First ZK Rollup. At Citrea, our goal is to secure on-chain finance with Bitcoin. We believe that Bitcoin and its values should be scaled to serve as the standard for decentralized finance. Achieving this vision requires scaling Bitcoin with zero-knowledge proofs, ensuring on-chain verifiability and data availability within the Bitcoin network. This approach makes Citrea the first scaling solution to enable more complex applications without compromising Bitcoin security and changing its consensus rules.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead solutions for complex engineering challenges in the ongoing development and maintenance of our ZK Rollup
  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering and Product team to develop the storage and networking modules of the protocol according to the product roadmap
  • Demonstrate the ability to switch context seamlessly between different modules within the rollup and related tasks
  • Ensure the highest standards of engineering are consistently met and contribute to the unification of our codebases and processes
  • Engage in strong team collaboration to foster a unified and effective approach to project goals

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in software development, preferably in backend, data analysis, algorithmic trading, or embedded systems
  • Proficiency in Rust
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • An aptitude for quick thinking, problem-solving, and clearly and effectively expressing solutions
  • 'That Guy' or 'That Gal' Mindset: We value individuals who exhibit a proactive approach to tasks and challenges, fearlessly conquering any obstacles in their path

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Bitcoin, Lightning Network, and Ethereum rollups, particularly ZK rollups
  • Understanding of Blockchain and layer 2 architectures
  • Previous experience in a start-up environment or a demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity options
  • Engaging community activities that foster team bonding and collaboration
  • A welcoming atmosphere where every team member's opinion is valued
  • A dynamic team environment filled with bright, young, and dedicated colleagues, offering an enriching collaborative experience
