We have an exciting opportunity for a Prosthetist to join our team in Cambridge. This role will involve working as part of the MDT in a newly fitted out, modern facility in Great Shelford, Cambridge, in partnership with the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We have a large clinical team of clinicians specialising in both prosthetics and orthotics, which provides a positive and supportive environment allowing for collaboration and improved patient outcomes.
Job Responsibility
Delivers autonomous, patient-centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases, and seeking guidance for more challenging situations
Applies sound clinical reasoning and experience across patient groups to ensure accurate device design, fitting, and adjustment using clinical and technical skills
Engages in continuous professional development through self-directed study, literature review and participation in relevant training
Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research activities with guidance as needed, supporting data collection and reflective learning
Manages clinical equipment and resources responsibly, with awareness of cost-effectiveness and service sustainability
Adheres to clinical prescription guidelines to ensure safe, effective and appropriate patient care
Effectively plans and prioritises caseload to meet service delivery targets, managing time and multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic clinical environment
Mentors less experienced staff, supports student and apprentice placements and actively participates in training and team learning
Maintains accurate clinical records and contributes to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective and continuously evolving patient care
Maintains mandatory training, adheres to policies and procedures and works collaboratively within the team
Requirements
BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent
HCPC registered
Highly developed interpersonal skills – including formal and informal communication
Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment
Experience of having collaborative role in an MDT environment
Working proactively and collaboratively in the team and wider trust
Interest in service development and/or evidence of involvement
Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities.
Nice to have
Experience with CAD/CAM or digital workflows
Experience mentoring students or clinical staff
Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and handle complex cases
Full driving licence
Relevant MSc, or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical area
Practice educator training
