Job Responsibility

  • Oversee the financial close process for all entities including review and reconciliation of property intercompany eliminations and reporting financial results to management
  • Work closely with the external auditors and Accounting Leadership to ensure thorough and accurate audits
  • Serve as the primary liaison between our internal accounting team and external (outsourced) accounting partners
  • Manage and produce monthly financials for timely and accurate reporting
  • Manage daily operations of the property accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for assigned properties
  • Responsible for reviewing work of staff including, but not limited to monthly account reconciliations, tax returns, and financial statements
  • Present financial information and appropriately research and answer accounting questions to management
  • Review audit schedules and work papers prepared by staff accountant
  • Review or prepare footnotes to the financial statements
  • Assist with the review of the audit reports to ensure audit adjustments are recorded properly and analysis/documentation is completed
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in property accounting operations

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum 5+ years of supervisor experience
  • Experience in real estate/property management
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Oversee daily cash activity and monitor liquidity across multiple accounts to support timely funding decisions and operating needs
  • Direct the year-end audit cycle by organizing schedules, preparing supporting records, and serving as the primary point of contact for external audit and accounting partners
  • Prepare completed audited statements for annual submission to the appropriate organization for designated properties
  • Produce monthly financial packages, including statement preparation, account analysis, and explanations of budget-to-actual variances
  • Manage the full close process each month by recording accruals, posting journal entries, reclassifying transactions, and completing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support planning activities through budget preparation, forecasting updates, and financial analysis for ownership and management review
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts on a recurring monthly basis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Coordinate annual insurance renewals with ownership and assist with related documentation and follow-up requirements
  • Act as the internal contact for employee-related administrative matters by partnering with an external HR provider and supporting payroll and benefits processes
  • Maintain tax and compliance filings for all entities, oversee annual common area maintenance reconciliations and tenant billings, and contribute to accounting system conversion efforts when needed
