In this role, you will oversee the financial operations of a portfolio of affordable and supportive housing properties, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering accurate financial reporting. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and passionate about providing financial expertise to support housing initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare detailed financial statements and reports for assigned properties, including performing variance analyses and reviewing budgets
Manage general ledger activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments for property accounts
Coordinate and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes with accuracy
Maintain financial records for restricted and unrestricted funds, subsidies, grants, and contracts related to housing programs
Collaborate with property managers and asset management teams to monitor budgets and ensure compliance with fiscal policies
Generate financial reports for government entities, investors, and auditors, ensuring adherence to affordable housing guidelines
Support audit processes, including cost certifications and tax filings, ensuring compliance with nonprofit standards
Oversee accounts payable functions, including vendor invoice processing, coding, and approvals for multiple properties
Reconcile tenant receivables, rental subsidies, and service fees to ensure accurate accounting records
Utilize property management and accounting software such as Yardi to enter invoices and maintain organized financial documentation
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit or property management accounting, with a focus on affordable or supportive housing
Proficiency in accounting systems such as Yardi or RealPage, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices and affordable housing regulations, including Section 8 and CoC
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and organizational abilities
Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and explain financial concepts to non-finance personnel
Familiarity with audit preparation and fund accounting processes
