We are seeking a highly motivated Propellant Mixing Technician to play a critical role in supporting cutting-edge rocket propulsion research and development. This position will focus on providing hands-on technical support for small to large scale propellant mixing processes and solid rocket motor testing. The ideal candidate will have general mechanical aptitude to use, repair, and maintain test hardware and instrumentation relevant to solid rocket motor live fire testing. Additionally, the role may involve mechanical and sensitivity testing of solid propellant samples. While the primary focus is on technical support, a working knowledge of solid propellant formulation, characterization, and testing is highly desirable to facilitate collaboration with propellant scientists. The successful candidate is an eager learner and strong communicator who puts safety first and works well with those from diverse backgrounds.

Assist in the mixing of small to large-scale quantities of energetic materials
Provide hands-on support for solid rocket motor testing, including setup, instrumentation, data acquisition, and post-test analysis
Troubleshoot mechanical and instrumentation issues during testing and implement correction actions
Operate and maintain propellant processing equipment such as mixers, mandrel pullers, and vacuum casting bells
Work closely with other technicians of different backgrounds to enable successful live-fire testing of solid rocket motors
Requirements
Ability to pass a background check and obtain a security clearance
Must be a US citizen, with valid driver's license
High School Education and/or GED with 2-3 years of energetic materials experience
Familiarity with solid rocket propellant chemicals and materials
Familiarity with different mixing and processing techniques involving energetic materials
General mechanical aptitude involving the safe use of hand/power tools
Possess safety knowledge to work with energetic and other hazardous materials
Excellent communication skills to enable successful work with teams handling energetic materials
Nice to have
2-3 years of experience in preparation, handling, and mixing of propellant ingredients
Experience with different sensitivity tests for energetic materials (friction, impact, electrostatic discharge)
Experience with mechanical testing of energetic materials
Familiarity of ASTM standards relevant to the testing of energetic materials
