Job Description

This newly created role has been established to support future water service delivery and growing organisational needs. The Project Engineer will provide technical and project delivery support to help plan, coordinate, and deliver renewal and minor capital works across water and wastewater infrastructure. Working closely with operational teams, contractors, and consultants, you will support projects from scoping and procurement through to site delivery, helping ensure essential infrastructure is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required technical and compliance standards. This is a varied role offering exposure to a broad range of projects and stakeholders while contributing to services relied on by communities across the district.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the planning and delivery of renewal and minor capital works projects
  • Assist with project scoping, design reviews, procurement, and contractor engagement
  • Coordinate contractors and provide site monitoring to support safe and efficient delivery
  • Monitor project performance, risks, and project documentation throughout delivery
  • Build effective relationships with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and communities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes and practices

Requirements

  • Have a relevant engineering qualification and experience supporting infrastructure or capital works projects
  • Have an understanding of project delivery, including scoping, procurement, contractor coordination, and site monitoring
  • Be able to identify and manage project risks while balancing cost, quality, and service outcomes
  • Have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be committed to safe work practices and quality project outcomes
