Job Description:

Our Brisbane office are seeking a Project Technical Lead, Hydraulic Engineering to take the lead on delivering projects across various sectors, including commercial, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments. We are looking for someone with Hydraulic design experience within the building services sector. The successful candidate will be able to apply their technical skills and demonstrate commitment in a way which ensures projects are thoroughly designed, personally reviewed and delivered on time. You will be expected to service projects including those of relatively large size, of high complexity and with multiple clients. Stantec are involved in a vast variety of project types including commercial, health, defence, high-rise, industrial, education etc. The successful candidate will be working in a strong team environment and will need to manage several projects at any one time. You will be self-motivated, resourceful and a great communicator.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and review hydraulic services designs, including water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and gas systems
  • Lead client-facing project delivery from concept through to construction, ensuring high-quality outcomes and strong stakeholder satisfaction
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and tender packages
  • Conduct site inspections, defect reporting, and respond to RFIs during construction
  • Prioritise workloads whilst ensuring our clients’ needs are met
  • Maintain strong and trusting working relationships with architects, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers
  • Continue to build and develop your professional profile across Queensland
  • Be active in, and supportive of business development and work winning activities
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, Building Codes, and client specifications
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
  • Be RPEQ or working towards
  • Have minimum 8 years hydraulic building services experience within the consulting or engineering industry
  • Proven experience in a design consultancy environment, with a strong track record of client engagement and project leadership
  • Self-management skills will be as important as your technical design and project management abilities
  • Ideally be well connected/networked within the industry and able to foster client relationships
  • Technically very strong in terms of understanding the key elements of the design and construction associated with Hydraulic Engineering works
  • Ability to multitask and deliver high profile projects in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
