At CESO, a Project Surveyor I continues to gain practical and professional work experience in the surveying field and will function in a wide variety of tasks under the direction of a Professional Surveyor. The Project Surveyor I will work collaboratively with team members while utilizing surveying software and tools to prepare survey documents, perform calculations, to review and improve concepts; they will actively contribute to the preparation of technical reports, in troubleshooting technical issues, and stay up to date with the latest surveying trends and technologies. This position is expected to function primarily in an office-based technical and coordination role, while maintaining targeted field involvement to support data validation, complex boundary resolution, construction staking oversight, and staff development. Typical time allocation is approximately 75–85% office and 15–25% field, depending on project needs.
Job Responsibility:
Support other Survey staff both office and field in daily planning, coordination, and completion of projects including drawings, legal descriptions, calculations, research etc.
Perform and/or direct survey tasks on a variety of projects by completing exhibit drafting, survey calculations, legal descriptions, and other deliverables
Gain experience and knowledge in all facets of surveying in both field and office settings including preliminary surveying, construction staking and calculations
Ensure all drawings created are following company drawing and CAD standards
Elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments
Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment to meet project deadlines
Regular contact with assigned clients and attend client meetings
Assist in the preparation of surveying project proposals
Ensure effective use of surveying techniques according to industry standards on client projects
Provide technical advice regarding survey topics to clients and managerial personnel
Provide mark-ups to identify missed items or changes in drawings as requested from the client or revieing agencies
As needed, assist with fieldwork associated with boundary and topographic surveys and construction staking
Supervising direct reports may be a key responsibility of this job
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Associate’s degree or certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology or related field, with a minimum of 6 years related experience and/or training
Or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), with a minimum of 8 years of related experience and/or training is required
NSPS CST Level 3 is preferred
Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
Working knowledge of TBC and Access
