We are seeking an experienced Project Scheduler to support large, complex information technology programs for an Investor-Owned Utility headquartered in New Jersey. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and excels at managing detailed project schedules across multiple workstreams. The Project Scheduler will play a critical role in developing and maintaining reliable schedules, supporting cost and resource planning, and ensuring projects remain on track with scope, timeline, and governance requirements. This individual will also provide leadership with clear, forward‑looking schedule analysis and reporting.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
Perform ongoing schedule analysis across assigned projects
Support scheduling and dependency management within and across SAP workstreams for the client’s modernization program
Participate in scheduling audits and quality reviews
Integrate cost and resource-loaded data into schedules according to governance standards
Work closely with Project Managers and Project Leads to collect updates and adjust scheduling parameters
Interface with stakeholders at the project and program level to ensure alignment and accurate schedule coordination
Create and manage scheduling databases, including templates and historical, proposed, and active schedules
Collaborate with Project Managers, Financial Analysts, and vendors to support forecasting and financial alignment based on schedule performance
Recommend best practices for coding structures, schedule templates, and reporting tools within P6
Provide forward-looking schedule insights and variance analysis to program leadership
Identify risks, delays, and performance issues based on schedule progression and propose recovery strategies
Establish and report baseline schedules and maintain current schedule status
Communicate impacts to milestones, critical path items, and overall timeline expectations
Support Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) development
Provide earned value analysis and reporting
Conduct critical path reviews and schedule quality checks
Communicate schedule risks or potential delays clearly to guide decision-making
Attend project meetings and assist with documenting meeting notes and action items
Ensure all scheduling work aligns with established Project Scheduler Standards and PMO processes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
Equivalent experience may be accepted in place of a degree
7+ years of experience using Primavera P6, specifically supporting IT programs (not construction/engineering)
Experience tracking, analyzing, and reporting on projects of varying size, complexity, and risk
Proficiency in developing and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and Resource‑Loaded Networks (RLNs)
Strong earned value experience and ability to perform schedule variance analysis
Background in cost/schedule baseline management and schedule deliverable preparation
Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Contracts, technical teams, financial analysts, and other stakeholders
Nice to have:
Experience contributing scheduling support for new business proposals is a plus
