This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic business that is experiencing exceptional growth. The Quantity Surveyor will work across the entire group, with a core responsibility focused on the Structural Steelwork division. While the primary focus will be on incoming payments, the role will also involve cost management and reporting. The Quantity Surveyor will operate within the commercial team to maximize financial recovery while maintaining strong relationships with customers and throughout the supply chain.
Job Responsibility:
Maximise Cashflow: Ensure all payments to the company are for the full amount and received on time
Valuations: Manage the entire payment application and valuation cycle for all projects in your division
Problem Solving: Fix any issues related to invoicing or delayed payments
Forecasting: Provide accurate data for monthly reports and cashflow predictions
Contract Review: Negotiate terms with both clients and the supply chain to protect the company
Risk Identification: Spot and communicate potential contract risks and specific project requirements
Scope Adherence: Thoroughly understand the project scope to ensure the team sticks to the agreed work
Structure Data: Organise Project Activity Schedules, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), or Bills of Quantities (BOQ) to fit each job
Change Management: Identify, price, and negotiate variations (changes to the original work), using the company's technical experts for support
Final Accounts: Lead the preparation and negotiation of final project accounts to close out contracts profitably
Subcontractor Management: Hire specialist trades, manage their tenders, and ensure they are paid according to their contracts
Tender Support: Assist with new bids by reviewing contract documents and providing commercial input
Cost Challenge: Monitor resources and costs to ensure the project remains as profitable as possible
Requirements:
Bachelor's or higher degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or similar qualification
A minimum of 2 years experience within the construction industry
A minimum of 2 years experience in quantity surveying or other commercial management role/s
Ideally at least 1 year experience involved in hard fabric and/or structural trades or experience with a Manufacture & Installation contractor
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK
