Job Description:

Robert Half is seeking a detail‑oriented Project Paralegal to assist with a short‑term organizational project involving the review, cleanup, and consolidation of firm records and archived boxes. This role will support attorneys, intake teams, and administrative staff by ensuring that physical and digital files are accurately categorized, labeled, purged (where appropriate), and prepared for long‑term storage or destruction in accordance with firm policies and applicable legal requirements. This is a hands‑on, task‑focused role ideal for a paralegal who excels at organization, documentation accuracy, and project execution.

Job Responsibility:

  • Review, sort, and organize physical case files, banker boxes, and archived materials
  • Identify duplicate, outdated, or unnecessary records in accordance with firm retention policies
  • Prepare detailed inventories of box contents and ensure accurate labeling
  • Digitize documents as needed, including scanning and uploading to firm document management systems
  • Work with attorneys and staff to verify case closure status, retention timeframes, and destruction eligibility
  • Update logs, spreadsheets, and tracking tools for project progress and file disposition
  • Coordinate with records management personnel or third‑party storage vendors as directed
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical requirements surrounding sensitive case files
  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to the project as assigned

Requirements:

  • Prior paralegal or legal assistant experience preferred
  • litigation experience a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and move boxes (generally 20–35 lbs)
  • Comfortable working with physical files for extended periods
  • Familiarity with legal records retention practices is beneficial but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and document management systems
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and meet project timelines
