The Project Manager serves as the primary operational point of contact for assigned stone projects from order release through production and shipment. This role is responsible for coordinating customer requirements with plant execution, ensuring projects move through block selection, fabrication, quality review, and delivery in a manner that meets specification, schedule, and budget expectations. The Project Manager works closely with Operations, Estimating, Production, Quality, and subcontractors to ensure each project is executed in line with Polycor standards and customer-approved ranges.
Job Responsibility:
Manage projects from purchase order through fabrication and shipment
Coordinate with plant operations to schedule and prioritize work across cutting, fabrication, finishing, and shipping
Select and allocate blocks and/or slabs based on customer specifications, approved ranges, and production feasibility
Track project progress and proactively address risks related to schedule, material, or quality
Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality expectations
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle
Collaborate with architects, general contractors, and installers to ensure alignment on specifications and timelines
Address and resolve customer concerns, including quality or delivery issues, in a timely and professional manner
Provide regular project updates and status reporting to internal leadership
Partner with production teams to ensure adherence to project-specific quality standards and finish requirements
Analyze stone recovery and yield to optimize material usage and improve project performance
Monitor production, labor, and material costs against estimates and identify opportunities for improvement
Provide feedback on estimating variances between projected and actual project outcomes
Support project setup, including system entry, job tracking, and documentation
Maintain accurate inventory and production data, including WIP tracking and shipping records
Coordinate subcontractors when required, including issuing purchase orders and overseeing quality of work
Collaborate across departments and locations to share best practices and improve project execution
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in reporting, systems, and operational processes
Requirements:
Experience in manufacturing or construction materials (stone, precast, or similar preferred)
Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on plant experience
Understanding of production environments, including scheduling, fabrication, and quality
Ability to read shop drawings and specifications
Experience with material selection, yield, or production flow is a plus
Strong organizational and communication skills
able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess production, material usage, and costs
Comfortable with standard/metric measurements and material calculations
Proficient in Microsoft Office
AutoCAD is a plus
Willing to be hands-on in a plant environment
