Job Description:

Senior Project Manager position at the U.S. office of Volkswagen Group Consulting (VWC) – the in house strategy consultancy of the Volkswagen Group. VWC delivers diverse strategy projects across all VW Group brands and entities in the NAR region and offers a steep learning curve in a motivated team. Role will lead Top Management consulting projects to define and reach NAR region’s short- and long-term goals (incl. all relevant VW Group brands and entities in NAR region). Role will shape the Consulting's strategy incl. revenue, cost, utilization, project quality, and talent development targets. Role will develop talents based on structured quality gates, improve internal processes and develop/distribute thought leadership / knowledge within NAR region (all brands / entities).

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading multiple parallel consulting projects or complex strategy programs (on Board, top management level level)
  • Making functional decisions within the scope of the projects under responsibility, incl. decisions on project goals, activities, strategic direction, and the involvement of cooperation partners
  • Functional leadership of project teams (up to 9 consultants), incl. evaluating performance and ensuring optimal resource allocation of consultants – considering competencies, availability/utilization, and grading mix
  • Actively participating in project-related committees (e.g. presentations in Board meetings)
  • Ensuring achievement of agreed targets with regard to profit objectives, budget compliance, and utilization (of VWC NAR overall as well as the projects under responsibility)
  • Building and managing Group-wide stakeholder relationships (on Board and Top-Management level), incl. acquiring project and identifying new business opportunities for VWC NAR
  • Defining, communicating, and implementing the strategy for the business unit (derived from the overall VWC strategy) as well as actively shaping the strategic direction of VWC NAR by leading internal initiatives or teams
  • Developing new topic areas relevant to the Group and NAR region and acting as thought leader with subject-matter expertise and methodological competence
  • Deputizing for the VWC NAR head, such as participation in committees, functional leadership of employees, project staffing, project acquisition, and ensuring optimal resource allocation and utilization
  • Recruiting top performers from universities and leading management consultancies
  • Coaching and developing consultants along the consulting career path of VWC NAR (up to management), incl. identifying training opportunities and ensuring knowledge transfer

Requirements:

  • 6(+) years of experience in top tier Management Consulting, Automotive, other relevant industries (e.g., mobility services, tech, ...)
  • Network and experience in VW Group is a strong plus
  • MBA or PhD in business and/or engineering
  • Relevant project and people management training
  • Fluent in English
  • Exceptional skillset and proven track-record of consulting career across levels (consultant and project management)
  • Broad experience across automotive and mobility value chain with first spikes of expertise (e.g., Product/Portfolio strategy, Sales, Financing, ...)
  • Proven toolkit for people management in project setups to develop the next generation of consultants
  • Strong (ideally bilingual
  • English and German) communication skills in writing (presentations, memos, emails) and speaking (top-down communication, argumentation, etc.)
