Job Description

Olsson’s Rail Traffic team delivers specialized traffic engineering solutions for rail and roadway systems, including traffic signal preemption, grade crossing safety, and traffic operations studies. This position is ideal for an experienced project manager with a strong understanding of rail traffic engineering who thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and support complex rail traffic projects
  • Combine technical traffic engineering work with project management responsibilities
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams
  • Serve as a key client liaison
  • Perform traffic and preemption analysis
  • Conduct site visits
  • Develop plans and studies
  • Manage risk
  • Mentor team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, planning, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry
  • Strong understanding of rail traffic engineering principles and project management practices
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and meet client expectations
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed

  • Undertake pre-site scoping visits to capture works requirements and enable robust planning and execution of works
  • Liaise with commercial team to review estimate submissions and final account details - analysing trends and reporting on day-to-day civils performance to the Project Manager to identify contractual progress of works against programme
  • Manage allocated site teams to ensure compliance with site returns, commercial reporting, quality and safety etc to drive efficiencies across the Framework and assist with timely submissions of EWNs/compensation events
  • Prepare and implement Site specific management plans to ensure Site activities comply with CML Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies
  • Prepare and implement site documentation and contract plans to conform, as a minimum, to the Client’s requirement and specification
  • Ensure robust programme management in the planning of works, capturing all required 3rd party access consents, possession/isolation submissions, traffic management requests etc where required to co-ordinate and facilitate the successful execution of works
