Job Description

We are looking for a Project Manager - Data Governance to help advance a university-wide data governance initiative in Saint Charles, Missouri. This 12 month Contract position will work closely with leadership to bring structure, accountability, and forward progress to a growing enterprise program. The role offers the opportunity to coordinate implementation efforts, connect stakeholders across the institution, and support the development of effective data practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to organize program activities and support execution across major initiative priorities
  • Build and maintain comprehensive project schedules, key milestones, and deliverable tracking to keep workstreams on target
  • Partner with stakeholders across academic, business, and operational areas to drive alignment and maintain momentum on shared objectives
  • Lead meetings, workshops, and governance sessions by setting agendas, capturing outcomes, and following up on next steps
  • Prepare and maintain clear project records, including status updates, action registers, risk logs, and documented decisions
  • Identify obstacles, interdependencies, and potential risks early, then elevate critical issues to appropriate leaders for resolution
  • Coordinate efforts tied to governance standards, data definitions, classification approaches, policy development, and stewardship models
  • Support program communications and change readiness activities as the data governance framework expands across the organization

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience leading project management efforts, ideally within large-scale or enterprise initiatives
  • Proven success managing cross-functional projects that involve multiple stakeholder groups and competing priorities
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams
  • Experience producing structured project documentation, reporting, and follow-up materials in a formal project environment
  • Familiarity with data governance, enterprise data management, or related data-focused programs is preferred
  • Experience working in decentralized or matrixed organizations is advantageous
  • Knowledge of project delivery practices and tools such as Agile, Scrum, Atlassian Jira, or comparable project management methods
  • PMP certification is a plus
