Our Client is a major specialist contractor delivering essential utility infrastructure across Australia, covering complex civil, water, sewer, gas, and power systems. We are seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of key infrastructure projects, managing everything from pre-contracts and tendering to on-site execution and contract closeouts. Reporting to the Construction Manager / Program Manager, you will lead engineering and project management activities to ensure works are safely delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to strict financial targets. This role serves as the central client contact, championing operational safety, commercial performance, and high-performing team leadership.
Job Responsibility
Direct day-to-day project operations, monitoring site progress and resources alongside Supervisors to hit milestones efficiently
Establish project setup, from risk assessments and work breakdown structures (WBS) to updating construction methods due to design variants
Drive cost tracking, budget reporting, variations, and claims to safeguard commercial entitlements while hitting target gross margins
Manage procurement pipelines, sub-contractor sourcing, tendering, onboarding, and compliance protocols
Cultivate a "care-based" HSEQ leadership model, leading incident investigations, closeouts of CARs/NCRs, and general statutory compliance
Chair site meetings, navigate complex client environments, and maintain robust vendor/community relations
Supervise, mentor, and foster professional growth among Project, Site, and Graduate Engineers
Requirements
A formal 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degree accredited by Engineers Australia (or equivalent global professional engineering benchmark)
Project Management accreditation (PMP, PMBOK, AIPM, or an advanced Diploma)
10+ years of proven Project Management experience specifically within the Civil Water, Gas, Road, Rail, or heavy Industrial Infrastructure domains
Clear competency with estimation costing, managing multi-discipline sub-contracting environments, and handling complete project financial statement/variance analysis
Safety-first orientation
background training in Sentis (Zipp), DuPont, or Psychological Safety is highly regarded
Exceptional conflict resolution skills, personal resilience, and the capacity to coordinate cross-functional teams in high-stress, shifting landscapes
Bachelor of Engineering degree (4-year duration) accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer or equivalent engineering body
