The Building Maintenance & Renovation Project Manager is a hands-on, highly organized role responsible for overseeing maintenance operations and managing renovation and capital projects across our Ottawa properties.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee day-to-day building maintenance across multiple Ottawa sites
  • Perform regular inspections of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire-safety, and building-envelope elements
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate repairs efficiently with internal staff and external vendors
  • Ensure preventive-maintenance programs are executed and documented
  • Manage renovation and capital-improvement projects from scope development through completion
  • Prepare scopes of work, obtain and compare quotes, negotiate pricing, and award contracts
  • Coordinate with engineers, trades, and consultants to ensure high-quality execution
  • Track project schedules, manage change orders, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Conduct post-completion inspections and deficiency management
  • Create detailed project budgets and capital plans
  • Track and manage actual spend vs. budget with strong cost-control discipline
  • Prepare project reports, forecasts, and cost-to-complete summaries
  • Maintain organized documentation of quotes, invoices, and financial approvals
  • Use Excel (pivot tables, formulas, cost trackers) to manage project and maintenance data

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or project management
  • Experience with multi-residential, retirement-living, or commercial buildings is an asset
  • Strong technical understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire-protection)
  • Proven track record managing contractors and delivering projects on time/on budget
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with budget management tools
  • Ability to read architectural/engineering drawings
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel between Ottawa properties
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through
