Job Description

You’ll join a busy ICP and civil engineering business working in partnership with UKPN. Joining them as a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the installation, testing and commissioning of HV cabling along some challenging routes spanning up to 20km. Predominantly site based, you'll work closely with your Site Manager with responsibility for all Health and Safety including auditing teams and working under CDM regulations. With support from a dedicated QS, you'll also be responsible for project finances and for ensuring the client and business receives regular updates on progress and spend.

Job Responsibility

  • Initial site set up and CDM pack handover
  • Evaluating, planning, managing, approving and undertaking plant and network
  • Ensuring assets are constructed in a safe manner and as designed
  • Project Management of Network construction including material control
  • Monthly site progress meetings (larger sites)
  • Large mains/cable materials selection
  • Progression of site variations
  • To carry out and record competency interviews with operatives
  • Operative health & safety issues including incident investigation and reporting
  • Liaison with relevant third parties including local highways
  • Site audits including pre-construction site set-up / Team audits / Van audits
  • Audit of site preparation
  • Assist with existing asset and/or plant queries
  • Closure of corrective actions

Requirements

  • Experience and/or qualifications as well as having a working knowledge of current Legislation, Technical Standards & Specifications, Codes of Practice and Recommendations relating to electricity distribution
  • HV cable installation project experience and knowledge of complementary civil engineering
  • NRSWA supervisory card
  • SMSTS
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations
