Job Description:

We are seeking a professional with strong experience in waste reduction, supply chain operations, and corporate net zero strategy to develop a comprehensive business case for achieving net zero, for presentation at board level. The role involves engaging with multiple internal stakeholders to assess current operations and identify key environmental impact areas, such as fleet emissions, property infrastructure, and energy usage. You will analyse the organisation’s current carbon footprint and operational inefficiencies, quantify the scale of the challenge, and identify risks and opportunities for reduction. Based on this, you will develop a clear, costed roadmap to achieve net carbon zero within a four-year timeframe, alongside a detailed project plan outlining timelines, milestones, and required resources.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work in collaboration across the organisation and through engagement with the Shareholder, Colleagues and Postmasters, to drive business outcomes
  • Proactively seek, listen to, and act on feedback from operators and customers to ensure early engagement on change initiatives to support the delivery of a sustainable and profitable business model for operators and clients
  • Takes ownership over policy and resources across essential functions and teams, ensuring risk management and governance across all internal, regulatory, and legal requirements
  • Oversees budget management and financial reporting for area of responsibility

Requirements:

  • Retail and supply chain background with practical industry experience
  • Proven experience managing large consultancy engagements and external partners
  • Skilled in coordinating, overseeing, and driving performance across consultancy teams and deliverables
  • Significant experience of delivering business critical projects/work steams to time, cost and quality of traditional and agile delivery at scale and complexity
  • Significant experience of managing supplier performance and building productive supplier partnerships
  • Demonstrable subject matter expertise in ESG (environment, social and governance), ideally in a project management context
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully navigating complex stakeholder environments and engaging with important and influential stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrable experience of planning and managing budgets
  • Prince 2/MSP/PMP/AMP Project Management qualifications
  • Situational leadership, flexibility in style to enable effective interaction with differing groups of stakeholders with different motivations
  • Strong facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to deal with significant levels of business complexity
