The Project Manager oversees, directs, and coordinates all aspects of overhead transmission projects. This role is accountable for project profit and loss, on-time delivery, and maintaining strong, professional relationships with owners, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. The Project Manager is also responsible for fostering client relationships, generating repeat business, and supporting growth through business development efforts.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage projects from concept through completion, including citing, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and project closeout
Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs
Own and manage internal project financials, including accurate forecasting, accruals, staffing, risk management, change management, legal coordination, and HR issues
Serve as the primary client contact, overseeing coordination, strategic planning, master scope management, budgeting, subcontracting, environmental compliance, staffing, facility support, and schedule adherence
Manage all project communication and ensure deliverables meet client expectations and internal QA/QC standards
Establish and implement project policies, procedures, and project controls systems
Provide regular updates on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety/environmental concerns, design questions, and items requiring corporate support
Direct and coordinate activities across several disciplines for projects of moderate scope or multiple smaller projects
Travel to client and project locations as required
Maintain and expand existing client relationships, targeting repeat work within each account
Assist in acquiring new clients through coordination with Account Managers and leadership, including direct marketing efforts
Prepare proposals, participate in presentations, and support contract negotiations
Support business development and marketing for T&D engineering and construction consulting services, focusing on profitable growth of existing and new clients
Participate in strategic planning related to sales, marketing initiatives, trade shows, industry publications, and customer engagement
Support the growth of the Transmission team by contributing to hiring, training, and mentoring initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited program
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years managing engineering projects in the Transmission & Distribution industry
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Experience producing transmission design and construction documents
Knowledge of the NESC and other applicable industry standards
Ability to create innovative solutions to project challenges
Demonstrated success in project management, including proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team communication, budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination
Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interact effectively with industry professionals, government officials, and the public
Ability to travel as required (Roughly 20%)
Valid driver’s license
Must meet internal standards for company-vehicle driving privileges per the Motor Vehicle Safety Policy
Nice to have:
A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
