Job Description

We are seeking a Project Inspector to join our team! In this role, you will support project management in successfully completing construction engineering and inspection projects. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular inspections, making recommendations, performing materials testing, documenting findings, and communicating with various personnel on-site.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and contract review and development of Minimum Testing Requirements (MTRs) of construction materials based on contract documents and Quality Assurance Manuals
  • Preparation of project documents to be used by the inspection staff during the project
  • Verify quantity take-offs for concrete, excavation, HMA paving, and other items before construction
  • Inspect and verify work performed meets the contract and plan specifications
  • Document construction activities, workforce, equipment, and all necessary information required for project acceptance following Field Operating Procedures and FOPs. Include photos of work with a daily diary
  • Verify materials are approved for incorporation into the project
  • Identify constructability challenges and work with management to develop strategies for successful project completion
  • Work with contractor personnel and management to clarify plan and contract requirements
  • Measure acceptable contract items and create pay documents for contract requirements
  • Provide materials testing/ sampling if required based on project scope
  • Participate in weekly construction meetings, providing schedule and project progress updates
  • Assist in the scheduling of material testing and provide contact information for testing personnel
  • Assist in project closeout and final project documentation, including record drawings
  • Track and complete required project documentation for project acceptance based on contract and owner-required specifications

Requirements

  • Preferably 2+ years’ experience in the construction industry with a focus on materials testing and site inspections
  • Degree in Engineering or construction management, or equivalent field, is a plus
  • ACI certifications + other testing certifications or the ability to obtain within the first year
  • Materials testing knowledge and experience
  • Valid Driver’s License that meets company insurance requirements
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong proficiency in construction material testing, identifying discrepancies, and managing multiple phases of the inspection process
