This role is central to safeguarding people, processes, and project delivery — embedding safe design and construction principles at every stage. To provide competent Health & Safety support to the site HSER function for a 6-month period, specifically supporting the delivery and compliance of a Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) project. The role will ensure CDM compliance across all stages of the project lifecycle, supporting the Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor in meeting statutory obligations. • Review and maintain CDM documentation including Construction Phase Plans, Pre-Construction Information, and Health & Safety Files
  • Liaise with Principal Designer and Principal Contractor to coordinate HSER activities
  • Lead and support risk reviews to eliminate or reduce hazards so far as reasonably practicable
  • Conduct inspections and audits to monitor CDM compliance on site
  • Review and approve RAMS and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
  • Support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations with corrective action tracking
  • Lead development and implementation of risk assessments related to project assets
  • Act as a key CDM contact for contractors, operations, and project stakeholders
  • Provide HSER input during project meetings
  • Track and report CDM and HSER compliance metrics
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and audit trails
  • Prepare HSER reports for senior leadership

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience supporting CDM projects
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM regulations and HSER legislation
  • Experience reviewing RAMS and Construction Phase Plans
  • Ability to build effective relationships across operational and contractor teams
  • Confidence to challenge unsafe practices professionally
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Experience supporting investigations and reporting
  • Experience collaborating with regulatory or external bodies
  • Understanding of sustainability, environmental, and risk management principles
  • Experience contributing to HSER audit programmes
