Job Description:

Ninyo & Moore, a SOCOTEC Company, has an opening for a Project Geologist in Irvine, California. The successful candidate will manage geotechnical projects, including meeting and interacting with clients, and managing project budgets. The Project Geologist will also coordinate and participate in field activities, including logging of borings, test pits, trenches and cores, down-hole logging, geologic mapping, review of stereoscopic aerial photographs, preparation of geologic cross sections, evaluation of geologic and seismic hazards, forensic evaluation of distressed structures and failed slopes, and preparation of geologic and geotechnical reports. Experience with construction and grading activities, including as-graded geologic mapping, is also desired.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage geotechnical projects, including meeting and interacting with clients, and managing project budgets
  • Coordinate and participate in field activities, including logging of borings, test pits, trenches and cores, down-hole logging, geologic mapping, review of stereoscopic aerial photographs, preparation of geologic cross sections, evaluation of geologic and seismic hazards, forensic evaluation of distressed structures and failed slopes, and preparation of geologic and geotechnical reports

Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A./M.S. in Geology or Geological Engineering (or related field
  • not environmental science)
  • Minimum of four years' experience in geotechnical consulting
  • Local experience and familiarity with local geologic conditions
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional Geologist (PG) and/or Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) registrations required

Nice to have:

Experience with construction and grading activities, including as-graded geologic mapping
