Job Responsibility:
Assists Project Manager with development of project deliverables and provide quality management
Develops designs, specifications, plans, and cost estimates for preliminary and final design documents
Reviews construction bid documents for QA/QC and ensures compliance with quality standards
Provides guidance for assigned engineers and mentoring as needed
Review work prepared by junior level engineers and technicians
Develops, maintains and updates project budgets and schedules
Works directly with clients on a regular basis and delivers superior service
Assists Project Manager with maintaining project budget and meeting contract requirements
Attends project meetings and makes presentations of specific aspects of engineering assignments
Represents firm at conferences, seminars, and industry organizations and events
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field is required
5 -10 years of relevant project design experience in transportation engineering
Strong client relationship management expertise
Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Active in industry organizations
Extensive public outreach and community presentation experience
Ability to think critically and strategically
Experience with the development of contract documents and construction plans and specifications
Strong time management skills and attention to project QA/QC
Good organization skills and effective problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently, set and meet timelines for interim and final deliverable products (i.e., reports, plans and estimates.)
Ability to direct and coordinate efforts of assigned engineering staff to accomplish workload
NYS Professional Engineer (PE) License required
Valid Class D Driver’s License required
Nice to have:
NYSDOT and/or Locally Administered Federal Aid Project experience preferred
Proficiency and experience using MicroStation and In Roads software
