Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Project Engineer (3886) in Idaho Falls, ID. The Project Engineer will support the Calcine Disposition Project (CDP) by planning project scope, identifying and organizing resources, and executing work activities. This position applies management and engineering principles to the design, modification, and operation of a test and processing facility at the DOE Idaho Site. The role requires direct involvement with project execution activities, routine field work at the DOE Idaho Site, and coordination with management, support organizations, and stakeholders.
Job Responsibility
Develop and review project plans and proposals
collaborate with management to define project objectives
Identify project priorities, define phases and project elements, and determine sequencing and timelines
Prepare and manage project budgets including labor, materials, and associated costs
Coordinate activities across multidisciplinary teams including contractors, engineers, and business support services
Identify, evaluate, and manage project risks, including technical risks
Monitor project progress against schedule and budget
implement corrective actions as needed
Communicate project status to DOE and ICP management and stakeholders through reports and presentations
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of project issues impacting scope, schedule, or cost
Organize, maintain, and archive project documentation and records
Develop project deliverables including schedules, cost estimates, engineering documentation, and compliance strategies
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in scientific or engineering principles related to technology development, DOE facility design and construction, and/or facility closure
US citizenship is required
Nice to have
Experience working at a DOE facility and familiarity with DOE orders and requirements
Knowledge of DOE O 413.3B, DOE-STD-1189-2016, DOE-STD-1073, and DOE-STD-1104-2016
Demonstrated experience interfacing with DOE, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders including Idaho DEQ, U.S. EPA, Tribal Nations, and the public
