The Intermediate Engineer will be responsible for and/or support the administration, engineering design, contract preparation, tendering/procurement, project management and quality control of major storm, sanitary and water infrastructure capital projects. Specific project(s) will be assigned based on the selected engineer’s experience and capability.
Job Responsibility:
Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
prepare in-house studies, budgets, executive reports, and other pertinent written documents to carry out projects
Engineer water, storm and sanitary infrastructure, including the determination of flow quantities, hydraulic analysis, route and materials selection, land requirements and cost estimates
Perform public presentations to interested groups, coordination of partner work teams and organization of Public Information Sessions
Prepare engineering construction drawings, obtaining all approvals, materials listing and tendering specifications for construction contracts
Contract administration duties during construction of major projects and direct the coordination of survey and drafting personnel, as required
Help in the resolution of any problems that may occur during the construction of projects
Prepare terms of references and subsequent consultant selection for projects
Requirements:
A degree in Engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering
At least 5 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving P.Eng.
Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status
A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) is required
Knowledge of current design standards, urban development procedures, linear wastewater/stormwater design, and environmental standards will be essential for success
Excellent communication skills, tendering and administrating projects, and monitoring the work of consultants
