Working under the general direction of the Chief Project Engineer, this role focuses on engineering, capital planning, and project execution at the Woodward plant. The Project Engineer leads a capital portfolio of medium to large capital projects for the plant in addition to collaborating with a cross-functional team to ensure project success. This role provides an exciting opportunity to be responsible for EHS excellence and project management activities including project leadership, planning, execution, controls, and business results. This position presents a unique opportunity to manage capital and engineering projects and provide assistance to Operations and Maintenance organizations by leveraging cross-functional and intra-departmental expertise while meeting safety, operability, and reliability objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure overall project success
Identifies, recommends, and implements project management best practices using a stage-gate FEL framework and risk management techniques
Provides supervision of project field construction work ensuring EHS excellence in all phases of work
Champions and leads strong safety process throughout every phase of the project ensuring all projects are planned and executed in compliance with CF Best Practices/Policies, state, federal and local laws and regulations including plant Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC) compliance
Participates in Process Hazard Analysis and other PSM activities
Provides direct technical support and inspection of various new equipment fabrication or refurbishment of existing equipment at the site or at the equipment manufacturing facilities
Leads the execution of multiple projects of moderate to high complexity
Coordinates and leads in Root Cause Analysis and Failure Analysis studies and recommendations
Uses project management framework to achieve technical project objectives delivered safely, on time, and on budget with realized operability and reliability results
Regularly measures and monitors project progress to identify variances from the plan and works to make needed corrections
Provides sponsor and stakeholders with a routine status of projects, actively communicating technical issues and risks, and ensuring that leadership alignment is a priority
Ensures that projects meet the operability requirements laid out in the project objectives by the business
Accountable for achieving strategic and tactical metrics from internal and external benchmarking, which include safety, operability, cost, and schedule objectives
Requirements:
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution preferred
Other engineering degrees from ABET accredited institutions with comparable field experience will be considered
Minimum of 5 years of applicable engineering/industry experience required
Experience in project engineering or management position and familiarity with capital project and plant responsibilities

Knowledge of state, local and U.S. Government regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and industry standards
Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written, and presentation)
Requires a sound performance record of working within strong teams, establishing collaborative relationships with internal/external customers and demonstrating effective communication techniques
Keen sense of prioritization
Positive attitude and problem-solving mentality with demonstrated continuous improvement proficiency
Working knowledge and application of concepts, engineering, and ability to assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, processes, etc.
Ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (Operations, QA, Warehouse, Maintenance, contractors, suppliers, and inspectors) including the ability to influence peers and cross functional stakeholders
Ability to deliver presentations effectively at internal meetings
Candidate must be able to identify useful connections in data or situations
