Job Description

Are you passionate about engineering design and project management? At Sputtering Components Inc. (SCI), we're looking for a Project Engineer who thrives on collaboration, creativity, and delivering smart solutions to our customers. In this role, you'll take the lead in assessing existing systems and designing retrofit solutions using cutting-edge SCI hardware. You'll be the key driver from concept to completion by proposing improvements, coordinating implementation, and ensuring successful project sign-off.

Job Responsibility

  • Work directly with the sales team and customers to determine customer needs
  • Propose customized solutions based on modifications of SCI generic products which meet customer needs
  • Lead design and drawing efforts of customized products and equipment
  • Participate as necessary in production of designs and drawings
  • Ensure customers receive appropriate specifications, scope of supply, and sign-off drawings
  • Ensure demand is loaded correctly into production fulfillment systems and monitor for completion
  • Work with service team to schedule resources for installation and testing if necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in engineering or related field required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • +5 years of experience in vacuum technology engineering required
  • Experience using Solidworks is required
  • Understanding of SCI products and competitor products
  • Significant knowledge of downstream systems using SCI and competitor products
  • Hands-on experience in using SCI or competitor products and downstream systems is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the sputtering field is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic electrical design and PLC programming is preferred
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time with occasional international travel

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience in using SCI or competitor products and downstream systems is preferred
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the sputtering field is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic electrical design and PLC programming is preferred
