The VIPER project is seeking a Project Engineer to support test integration activities associated with vehicle and subsystem testbeds, with an initial focus on emulator-based testing in coordination with external partners. This role will support definition, planning, and execution of test activities that enable verification of vehicle-level and subsystem-level objectives. The selected engineer will play a key role in translating test intent into executable plans, aligning stakeholders on approach, and driving execution through completion.
Job Responsibility:
Support Test Integration Meetings (TIMs) and follow-on execution activities, including coordination with external partners
Define and align on test objectives for vehicle and subsystem testbeds
Identify required hardware emulation testbeds and assess adequacy of existing assets
Define testbed configurations necessary to meet agreed test objectives
Develop and execute test plans based on outcomes of integration and planning forums
Coordinate across project engineering, test engineering, and partner organizations to ensure alignment and readiness
Track action items, risks, and dependencies associated with test execution
Requirements:
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
Experience in project engineering, test integration, or systems engineering on complex hardware programs
Familiarity with hardware testbeds, emulators, or system-level testing
Ability to translate high-level test objectives into executable plans
Strong coordination and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
Experience working in structured program environments with external partners
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
Nice to have:
Prior experience supporting flight or flight-like test programs
Previous experience supporting the VIPER project or closely related lunar surface systems
Familiarity with NASA project environments or large aerospace programs
Experience participating in or leading formal technical interchange meetings (TIMs)
Understanding of test configuration management and test readiness processes
