The Project Development Associate is a high‑impact early‑career role at the center of utility‑scale renewable energy development, supporting wind, solar, and battery storage projects from early‑stage land acquisition through permitting and pre‑construction. This position builds on foundational development experience and involves increased responsibility for project execution, external engagement, and cross‑functional coordination. Associates work closely with senior development leaders while independently owning key workstreams across multiple projects. Job Responsibility:
Support and oversee advancement of large‑scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects through multiple development stage‑gates
Serve as a point of contact on assigned projects, supporting day‑to‑day project execution across land, permitting, interconnection, and commercial readiness
Represent EDPRNA in the field by leading engagement with landowners, including negotiation and administration of land agreements, such as options, leases, amendments, purchases, easements and crossing agreements
Lead and coordinate community outreach and stakeholder engagement activities, including interaction with public officials and local representatives
Manage the selection, contracting, and performance of external consultants such as land agents, permitting consultants, and community engagement contractors
Create and compile project documentation, including due diligence materials, permit applications, exhibits, and supporting studies
Coordinate efforts to obtain local, state, and federal permits, working with internal teams and external consultants
Conduct and synthesize land, regulatory, market, and project‑specific research to inform development strategy and risk assessments
Create, update, and maintain project GIS maps, databases, schedules, and trackers
Secure and maintain compliance with transmission and interconnection agreements
Coordinate internal inputs across development, engineering, legal, and finance teams to price projects for commercial offtake
Support the preparation of bids and compliance with contracts with power purchasers
Support project forecasting, portfolio tracking, and management reporting, identifying risks and elevating issues proactively
Lead project meetings, driving forward decisions and tracking action items
Mentor and provide guidance to Analysts and Coordinators on project tasks and processes
Perform additional duties as required to support timely, high‑quality project delivery
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Political Science or a related field
1 – 3 years of progressively responsible project management or development experience in energy or a related industry
Experience with implementing AI tools to increase efficiency preferred
Strong knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Google Earth software preferred
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software with strong Excel skills preferred
Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
